How much of your work could AI change?

Look past the job title. Our score sorts representative O*NET tasks by what software can do, what it can assist, and what still needs a person. Pair that reading with official US pay and employment figures before you plan a move.

Pay and outlook: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2025–35 projections . Scores: our analysis of O*NET 31.0 task data . A higher score does not mean a higher chance of unemployment.

What should you do with a high score?

Start with the task matrix on your occupation page. If routine drafts, searches or data entry occupy a large share of your day, learn how to use the relevant tools and document the judgment you add after they produce an answer. A score based on task statements cannot tell how much of your own day each task takes.

Then investigate a related role and its entry requirements. The pivot suggestions name the work that transfers and the experience gap that may remain. The earnings calculator includes preparation pay, unpaid months and one-time costs. Its totals are scenarios, not forecasts.

Make the comparison useful for your own work

Audit the tasks in your working week to separate time-consuming production from decisions and responsibility. Then use the side-by-side career comparison and career-change planning guide to examine pay, training, experience and the evidence you would need for a move.
